报告人简介：Dr Hendrik J. van Eerten is a Reader in Theoretical and Computational Astrophysics at the University of Bath, United Kingdom. His area of research is transients in high-energy astrophysics, with a focus on theoretical and computational fluid dynamics of relativistic jets and cosmic explosions, in particular gamma-ray bursts.

内容摘要：Fluid dynamics plays an important role in many branches of science and astrophysics is no different. In my area of research, cosmic explosions called "gamma-ray bursts", we have to deal with plasmas that flow with relativistic velocity and evolve over many orders in magnitude in time and space. Meanwhile, their shock fronts produce intense radiation visible across the universe. I will describe our work in how we approach computational fluid dynamics for the purpose of modelling such phenomena, using finite-volume moving mesh relativistic hydrodynamics and a range of methods to capture the radiation. No background in astrophysics will be assumed of the audience.
